Okeanis Eco Tankers Secures Work for VLCC

Okeanis Eco Tankers Secures Work for VLCC
Oslo-listed shipowner Okeanis Eco Tankers Corp. has entered into a time charter contract with an unnamed international energy company for one of its VLCC vessels.

The vessel in question will be either the 2020-built 319,000 dwt Nissos Anafi or 2019-built Nissos Kythnos, for a period of three years firm. The charter has no extension options, the company said.

Okeanis added that the charter would generate approximately USD 17.5 million of gross annual revenue.

The charter is set to commence in mid-May 2020.

Nissos Anafi was delivered to the company in January 2020 and it is the final of eight VLCCs in its newbuilding program.

All of the company’s newbuilds have been fitted with scrubbers, and OET expects to complete scrubber retrofitting of its other ships in the second quarter of this year.

The company’s fleet is comprised of 17 vessels with an average age of 2 years and an aggregate capacity of approximately 3.8 million deadweight tons.

These ships include three Aframax/LR2 vessels, four Suezmax vessels, and eight VLCC vessels.

Two more Suezmax tankers are taking shape at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries and are scheduled to be delivered in September this year.
