ONE Takes Delivery of First Pink Newbuild
Ocean Network Express has taken delivery of its first newbuild containership sporting the company’s pink magenta color.

The ship, named ONE Stork, was delivered by Japan Marine United Corp’s Kure Shipyard in Kure, Japan.

It is the first of seven newbuilds built with a capacity of 14,000 TEU.

The 364-meter-long ONE Stork will be phased into THE Alliance’s Asia to North America (East Coast) EC4 service with calls at the ports of Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Yantian, Cai Mep, Singapore, New York, Norfolk, Savannah, Charleston, New York, and back to Singapore.

ONE says the vessel also features improved hull form and other technologies designed to reduce emissions and optimize fuel consumption.

“ONE is excited to take delivery of first new-building containership with our new corporate color, magenta. The magenta colour shows our intentional drive to do things differently and explore newness in this market. “, said Jeremy Nixon, Chief Executive Officer of ONE. “There is no doubt that she will be one of our most important core fleet. We are committed to continue the company’s efforts to provide higher quality and more competitive services for our customers.”

ONE was formed in 2017 through the integration of the container shipping businesses of Japan’s three biggest carriers, NYK Line, “K” Line and MOL. The new company kicked off operations on April 1, 2018 as the world’s sixth largest container shipping company controlling a fleet of about 240 vessels with a combined capacity of 1.4 million TEU.

All seven of the 14,000 TEU newbuilds are planned for delivery this year.

The company has also started rebranding its other ships, starting with the ONE Committment which just finished making her North American debut on the U.S. West Coast and British Columbia, Canada.
