The pirates seized the ship as it was sailing from the Baltics
Somali based pirates have reportedly captured yet another merchant vessel, possibly carrying military vehicles and spares to Kenya.
According to local reports the Ukrainian-owned, Belize cargo ro-ro Faina was expected in Mombasa on September 27.
Reports quote Mombasa-based Andrew Mwangura of the Seafarers Assistance Programme as saying: "It was sailing from the Baltics and as usual, the pirates were armed on a speedboat when they seized the ship, but we do not know where they have taken it."
A report from the Russian wire service Itar-Tass the crew consists of three Russians, 17 Ukrainians and one Latvian citizen. Another Russian report says the 1978-built, 10,931 gt ship was about 30 T-72 tanks and other military hardware and spares.
