PRIVATIZATION Administration (PA) has announced a consultancy services tender for ?stanbul Sal?pazar?- Karaköy Kruvaziyer Harbor (Galataport) to be leased for a period of 49 years.

PA has written invitation letters to 32 international consultant companies in its portfolio to participate in this privatization tender in the days past. Relevant sources note that bids for the tender will be received on 1 February 2010.

The same sources add that the consultant company to be selected will carry out work on the latest conditions of the harbor and on preparing the specifications to be completed in the first half of 2010 as planned.

As might be recalled, we informed you earlier that views of PA in connection with the Land Use Plan Drafts had been completed to a great extent, and that upon the approval of the land use plans by PA, preparatory work on the tender would be re-started.

 
A competition might be held for the project of the harbor.

On the other hand, according to the information obtained from the source close to the subject, after PA has evaluated the BOT model for this tender, it targets to held a competition for the project of the harbor after the consultancy services tender. Relevant sources communicate that views of PA have been developed in connection with the Protective Land Use Plan Drafts under the scale of 1/5009 and 1/1000, and upon completion of the project work, approval of the Supreme Planning Council will likely be obtained towards the land use plans and projects.

In conformity with the preparatory work on the projects, bids for the tender of the harbor are targeted to be collected in the second half of 2010.

As known, the consortium led by Israeli Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. won the BOT model tender announced by TD? with its highest bid of Euro 3.538 billion. Upon stay of execution decision taken by Council of the State towards the procedures related to the approval by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in connection with the amendment made by Council of the State to the land use plan in favor of Galataport Project, SPO returned the Galataport file under examination back to PA. Since the bids were received in line with the previous plan, they were regarded invalid.
