GRIMALDI Lines’ 1988-built, 42,567 gt ro-ro Repubblica di Genova capsized in the Verrebroekdok at Antwerp yesterday morning. It is not known why the vessel suddenly took a list and then sank, lying partially submerged on its side. There were no injuries and the crew all disembarked safely. .

The company says it started an internal inquiry into the incident to the Italian-flag ship. It was about to sail for Luanda with a cargo including cars and containers. There has been no pollution but a boom has been deployed.
