The Sanduao International Container Terminal, which is situated in the Sanduao port area at southeastern China's Fujian province, has commenced construction.
The Sanduao International Container Terminal, which is situated in the Sanduao port area at southeastern China's Fujian province, has commenced construction. Managing director of Sanduao International Container Terminal Wang Xiaobin said the construction is divided into two phases. Phase 1 comprises two 100,000-tonne berths, which cost CNY1.3 billion (US$190 million) to build and will be completed by 2010. Phase 2 comprises two 200,000-tonne berths costing CNY1.8 billion and will be finished by 2012.
Following completion, the terminal will have an annual capacity of 6 million TEU and be able to accommodate sixth-generation containerships.
