New security procedures have been set in place for all oil terminals in Iraq.
The new procedures include a security sweep on all tankers and other vessels headed for any Iraqi oil terminal.
Reports say a coalition of military units from the US, the UK and Iraqi troops are on stand-by on a 24-hour basis to carry out these new procedures.
Security for Iraqi oil facilities is reportedly the main objective for implementation of the new procedures.
Ship masters are warned to take note that patrol boats of the coalition forces will be flashing blue lights on-board.
Helicopter patrols are also scheduled to be employed.
Warning zones and exclusion zones have also been set up around each terminal.
Security sweeping of all vessels headed for Iraqi oil terminals have been in effect since March 7, according to GAC news service.
