Koji Sekimizu will be presented as a candidate for Secretary General in the next IMO election which is to be held in June 2011.
The Japanese government said Thursday it will field Koji Sekimizu, director of the International Maritime Organization's Maritime Safety Division, as a candidate for the post of secretary general of the U.N. agency in an election scheduled for next June.
The commission of Efthimios Mitropoulos, who is the current Secretary General of International Maritime Organization, will expire in December 2011 and Koji Sekimizu will be presented as a candidate in the next IMO elections which is to be held in June 2011.
