Sembcorp Marine wins Ekofisk deal.
Smoe, a rig and offshore engineering subsidiary of Singapore"s Sembcorp Marine, has scooped a S$550m ($394.6m) deal from ConocoPhillips Skandinavia to build the Ekofisk accommodation topside that will be installed in the North Sea.
The company will initially carry out two months of engineering design work on the accommodation cabins mainly using SMOE engineers in Norway.
Construction of the topside is expected to start by September with installation in the Greater Ekofisk area in 2013.
SMOE will be responsible for engineering, procurement and construction of the 10,000 tonne accommodation facility that will be able to house 552 people. The project also includes two bridges, a bridge connector and a helideck. The platform will also feature a built-in centralised telecommunications centre and a control tower.
