Arkas began operations in the ship bunkering sector at the beginning of 2006 with a company named Arkas Bunkering. Because of strong partnerships with international partners, the company provides bunkering services for seagoing vessels, primarily at Mediterranean and Black Sea ports but also at ports around the world. Arkas Bunkering applies management and operational principles with the goal of ensuring the productive use of fuels in sea-going vessels, since this is one of the largest expenses for overseas shipping companies. Not only is Arkas Bunkering able to save companies money, it also employs a special bunker management program it has designed that keeps costs under control and also helps to maintain the performance of ship engines.
Three vessels providing service
In November 2008, Arkas Bunkering began to offer service with four tanks at the bonded warehouse at Solventa? Terminal located in Izm?t. With a total capacity of 17,050 cubic meters, the company has two marine gasoil tanks with a capacity of 5,500 cubic meters and two more tanks with a capacity of 11,550 cubic meters for storing fuel oil. Arkas Bunkering also has three barge with capacities of 630 DWT, 980 DWT and 1,100 DWT.
As a member of the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA), one of the most important institutions in the sector, Arkas Bunkering is also the first Turkish fuel company capable of supplying directly using its own offices.
