STX wins US$340M tanker deal

Korean-owned European shipbuilder STX has won an order from an unnamed European tanker operator to build four ships, with the option of a further four, which could be worth a total of US$340m.

Korean-owned European shipbuilder STX has won an order from an unnamed European tanker operator to build four ships, with the option of a further four, which could be worth a total of US$340m.

The delivery of the first four vessels from the former Aker Yards facility is expected to be complete by August 2010. The company's shares jumped 4.19% on the news.
