TEAM LINES TO CALL AT DCT GDANSK
DCT Gdansk SA, developer of Poland’s newest deepwater port facility, has signed a contract with major Baltic feeder line Team Lines, under which the carrier has confirmed its intention to initiate regular calls at the terminal. The operator says the service is in response to increasing cargo volumes and customer interest.
DCT Gdansk SA’s CEO, Colin Chanter, said: “Having kept our pledge to deliver a modern deepwater terminal for the Baltic on time and on budget we are delighted that Team Lines has decided to initiate calls with us. It is reassuring that such a well-established feeder operator has recognised the benefits offered by DCT Gdansk’s strategic location and modern facilities at this early stage. We look forward to working closely with Team Lines to ensure smooth ship-to-shore and landside operations.”
DCT Gdansk is scheduled to commence operations from 1 June with two post-panamax ship-to-shore (STS) cranes and three rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes. New road and rail links connecting DCT Gdansk to Poland’s transport infrastructure are already in place. By September 2007 the terminal will be operating with three STS cranes and five RTGs with attendant yard space and back-up machinery to give the facility an annual throughput capacity of 500,000TEU.
