Topaz PSV Caspian Voyager in extended drydocking scheme with ABS

Topaz PSV Caspian Voyager in extended drydocking scheme with ABS
Topaz Energy & Marine has entered its vessel Caspian Voyager into an extended drydocking scheme with ABS meaning the maximum period is up to seven and half years rather than five.

The scheme, together with the State Maritime Agency under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ASMA) sees ABS pioneering a project with a condition-based survey approach on the Topaz vessel.

The extended drydocking programme means that with the PSV Caspian Voyager undergoing underwater surveys the maximum time between drydocking can be extended to seven and half years compared to five years as is the norm at present.

Christopher J. Wiernicki, ABS chairman, president and ceo said: “This solution compliments Topaz’s digital efforts in targeting critical areas for repair, prioritising maintenance requirements, and efficient scheduling and using resources to improve availability of their assets, whilst also meeting class and statutory requirements.”

Martin Helweg, coo of Topaz, commented: We aim to be a best-in-class, reliable, innovative service provider to our customers and we believe that with our partners, ABS and ASMA, we are making yet another step in the right direction to provide the tools necessary to achieve this.”

ABS said the partnership with Topaz and ASMA was the first step in condition-based surveys moving away from prescription based surveys.
