APL, the container shipping division of Singaporean shipping group NOL, is preparing to commence a new transpacific service at the end of August, called the TP5 that will connect China to California. The TP5 service will deploy five containerships, ranging in size from 3,300 to 4,700 TEU, according to the Paris-based Alphaliner newsletter.
The TP5 will call at the ports of Shenzhen (Chiwan), Guangzhou (Nansha), Fuzhou, Shanghai, Los Angeles and Oakland. The service will offer an average weekly capacity of 4,000 TEU on this route.
