Turkey's Energy Minister said on Friday that Turkey carried out activities to increase the diversity of energy resources.

Turkey's Energy Minister said on Friday that Turkey carried out activities to increase the diversity of energy resources.

Attending a meeting in Istanbul, Guler said Turkey was previously dependent on Russian and Iranian gas, however it now diversified its gas resources.

"Turkey increases the diversity of the gas resources thanks to Egyptian, Iraqi and Azerbaijani gas," Guler said.

The minister said Turkey also conducted activities to extract its own natural gas. Pointing to the importance of wind energy as well, Guler said a business opportunity of 10-15 billion USD could be created, if a turbine factory was established in Turkey.

Upon a question, Guler said a "National Boron Research Center" was established in Turkey and nearly 198 projects on boron have been implemented so far. Turkey is ranked the first in terms of reserves and trade of boron, he added.
