Turkey Purchases New Drilling Ship ‘Deepsea Metro I’
Fatih Dönmez, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources declared that Fatih Vessel, which is still conducting drilling operations in Mediterranean Sea; equipped with modern equipments.

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources answered the questions on NTV Channel

In his statement regarding US sanctions against Iran; “Iran is Turkey’s border country and we purchase oil and gas from Iran. We have a contract is still for 5-6 guaranteed years. Tüpraş imports crude oil from them. Turkey has already 25 percent of exemption. Us will make a decision after holding a situation assessment.

“Fatih is Equipped ith Modern Equipments”

Dönmez made statements about Fatih that have started to conduct drilling operations since the end of October; “Fatih is equipped with modern equipments. We currently reached a depth of 3585 meters. Our goal is around 5500 meters. We expect to find oil and gas at there. We are not interested in reserves of any other country. Thus we don’t want anyone to interfere with us” he said.

"2. Drilling Vessel is Purchased”

Minister also gave informations about the new drilling vessel: “The purchasing process of 2. drilling vessel is successfully completed. After our tests, our ship will be in Turkish inland waters. We will conduct the drilling operations in the Black Sea. Technical specifications is same with “Fatih”. It can drill 2 wells per a year” he added.

“We Don’t Desire any kind of Escalation”

“Regarding Dear Chipras’ declaration I would like to tell that we don’t want it to be confronted with a fait accompli. We don’t desire to rise the tensions. We will keep continue to work within our proper sphere. There is a conflict with Greek Populated Southern Cyprus. We are going to defend the rights of both Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” Sönmez said in the interview.

"We Would Like to Put Akkuyu into Service by 2023"

“Our goal is to put Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant into service by 2023. We have a partnership Japanese in Sinop and a join project at Trakya region with Chinese. Our nuclear process is still going on. We will keep on improving as long as long as the favorable conditions continue.” Fatih Dönmez added, with referance to Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant that has been constructed in Mersin
