TURKISH BORDERS TO BE UNDER CONTROL
Turkey is set to complete a project regarding navigation and maritime safety through automatic monitoring of vessels in Turkish waters.
Carried out by Turkish Undersecretariat for Maritime Affairs, the project will be fully operated in July.
Once this Automatic Identification System (AIS) project completed, sea accidents will be reacted rapidly.
Illegal use of fuel, smuggling, human trafficking and violations by fishing boats in foreign waters will also be prevented by the system.
AIS will be implemented to vessels with a gross weight of 300 tons or more on international navigation, cargo vessels with gross weight of 500 tons or more on domestic navigation and all passenger ships regardless of their weight.
