A ship sank in the Sea of Marmara, another one ran aground off the Aegean city of Canakkale on Tuesday.

Executives of the Turkish Directorate General of Coastal Safety said that a Turkish cargo ship sank off Bandirma town of Balikesir province in the Marmara Region.

The ship had ran aground on February 9 when it was carrying wheat bran from Ukraine to Bandirma.

Also, executives said a Moldovan-flagged cargo ship ran aground off Besiye Cape in the Aegean province of Canakkale due to bad weather conditions.

The crew of the ship had been evacuated, and there were no immediate reports of loss of property or environmental pollution, executives said.

The Moldovan ship was heading for Syria.
