Emirates ro-ro ship AL SALMY 6 developed heavy list in Persian Gulf off Iran coast on Mar 17, being caught in rough weather.
The ship capsized, probably sank but as probably, is still afloat, last AIS dated 0600 UTC Mar 17. She was en route from UAE to Umm Qasr, Iraq.
Most probably, she suffered cargo shift on cargo deck or decks, followed by water flooding cargo deck. The ship according to track, went out of control and started to drift in the evening Mar 16.
Of 30 crew on board, 16 are reported to be rescued, 11 remain in life rafts, 1 rescued by merchant ship, 2 remain in water – SAR information is yet to be updated, confirmed.
