Zim to co-operate with four shipping line on Asia - South America East Coast service.
Zim Integrated Shipping Services announced last week that it would co-operate with four gloval shipping companies: Compania Chilena de Navegacion Interoceanica (CCNI), Hanjin Shipping, Hapag-Lloyd and Wanhai Lines on the service from Asia to South America East Coast via South Africa. The joint operation will take effect in April 2010 serving Korea, Central and South China, Singapore, South Africa, Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina.
The new weekly service will consist of 11 vessels of TEU 4,200, Hanjin and Zim deploying 3 container vessels each, CCNI and Wanhai ? 2 vessels each and Hapag-Lloyd deploying one vessel plus slot purchase from other lines.
Zim imposes ?emergency revenue charge? on U.S. exports Zim Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. announced its plans to impose an ?emergency revenue charge? of US$125 per TEU on exports originating in the United States for all destinations, effective as of March 15, 2010.
In a press release Zim said that the charge "is an interim measure taken in order to achieve rate restoration and maintain our current levels of service?.
